Elijah started training with me in August of 2022. The heaviest he lifted before walking through the doors was 225lbs on deadlift and although I don't have numbers for the other lifts, let's just say he took the bar out of the rack backwards when he was showing me his squat.  On May 29th of 2023 he became my first official client to hit the 1000lb club totaling 1020lbs; 385lb squat, 160lb OHP, and 475lb deadlift.

Prior to these lifts the heaviest he pulled was 415 for 3 reps just the week before and 305 for 3x3 a month or so earlier. His utter grit under the bar is a testament to the work he has put in the last 10 months both inside and outside the gym. Every week he came in to hit his numbers and every day he hit his calories. Elijah also grapples in BJJ most the week so getting enough food in was very important and if you asked him it probably was the hardest part of the process. It has been an absolute pleasure seeing Eli progress and see the fruits of his consistent labor accumulate to where he is now physically, how his strength gain has helped him develop in his sport, and the confidence has getting under a barbell. The most exciting part it that he has just scratched the surface to what he will accomplish and I am glad that I get to be a small part of that journey.

“...but the reality of millions of years of adaptation to a ruggedly physical existence will not just go away because desks were invented.” ― Mark Rippetoe, Starting Strength
